WALNUT, Calif. - Whitney Ashley set a school record in the hammer throw and won the shot put and discus to lead the San Diego State track and field team Friday night at the 53rd annual Mt. Sac Relays in Walnut, Calif. Three other Aztecs - Kelsy Hintz, Lawreta Ozoh and Shanieka Thomas - posted top-10 marks in the program record book.

Ashley bettered her school record in the hammer throw with a toss of 185 feet, 7 inches, to take 12th of 47 in the Open U/O event. Ashley also claimed victories in the shot and discus in the Open U/O portion. In the shot put, Ashley defeated 21 others with a throw of 51-11.00. It bettered her 50-06.00-mark set earlier this year and was the second-best throw in school history. In the discus, Ashley won the 25-person event with a heave of 171-05, moving her up to No. 3 all-time at SDSU.

Thomas shined in the triple jump (Open U/O) with a leap of 42-04.00. The jump was good enough for fourth of 25 and moved her up four spots on the school's all-time best to No. 3. Alex Evans, meanwhile, was 14th in the event (39-05.00).

In the pole vault, Kelsy Hintz equaled her best mark of her collegiate career (set in 2010), clearing 13-03.50 (No. 5 all-time) for a fourth-place showing in the Open-A U/O section. Moriah Roberge vaulted 12-06.75 for a collegiate personal best and second-place finish in the Open-C U/O event.

Lawreta Ozoh led the track performers, taking second of 61 in the 100 meters (Open U/O) in 11.66 seconds. It was the eight-fastest time ever by a San Diego State athlete. Shanae Roach was 21st in a season-best time of 12.08.

Fresh of winning the heptathlon at last week's Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational, Allison Reaser ran a collegiate-best time in the 400-meter hurdles of 1:00.00 to place fifth of 47 (Open U/O).

The Aztecs relay teams also finished with a pair of season-best marks. In the 4x100, Ozoh and Roach teamed with Jessika Hornsby and Maderia Toatley to take second of 20 teams (Open U/O) in 45.37. In the 4x400, Amy Brown, Hornsby, Kiersten Kirkland and Josefine Koskinen were fifth of 23 (Open U/O) in 3:43.75.

Roach is slated to run the 200 Olympic Development Elite race on Saturday, beginning at 5:23 p.m. PT.
