SAN DIEGO - The seventh-ranked San Diego State men's golf team will look to build upon its tournament title and upset of top-ranked UCLA last week by claiming top honors at the Fresno State Lexus Classic in Fresno, Calif., March 7-8.

The Aztecs will be the highest ranked team in the 16-squad field, which also includes top-50 foes No. 19 Duke and No. 35 Michigan. SDSU will also be joined by fellow Mountain West Conference members No. 106 Brigham Young and No. 62 New Mexico.

Head coach Ryan Donovan will bring six golfers to the tournament with the low five scores per round counting toward the team total. Senior Johan Carlsson, juniors Colin Featherstone, Alex Kang and J.J. Spaun, sophomore Tom Berry and freshman Todd Baek will all make the trip. Spaun is the reigning Mountain West Conference player of the month, after tallying three top-15 finishes since 2011 began.

San Diego State did not participate at last year's Lexus Classic, but took fifth out of 20 squads in 2009.

Teams will play 36 holes on Monday with a shotgun start beginning at 7:45 a.m. PST. The final 18 holes tee-off at 8 a.m. from the No. 1 and No. 10 at the par-72, 6,950-yard Sunnyside Country Club.

Live results will be available on goaztecs.com, as well as golfstat.com for both days.
