Meier Places Fifth In 3M Diving At Zone E Regional

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - San Diego State's Kristen Meier finished fifth of 47 divers in the 3-meter springboard competition at the Zone E regional meet being conducted in Minneapolis this weekend. The meet includes the top divers from all schools in the western section of the country.

Meier, a junior transfer in her first season at SDSU, was seventh after the preliminary round with a score of 284.40. In the finals, which featured the top 16 competitors from the preliminary round, she improved her placing to fifth with a mark of 296.05 for a total score of 580.45.

Aztec freshman Anna Steiner, competing in her first Zone meet as a collegiate diver, finished in 40th place in the prelim with a mark of 213.60.

A total of six women will qualify for the NCAA Championships from the Zone E Meet. The official list of qualifiers will be determined after the meet concludes Saturday afternoon.

Meier and Steiner will compete in the one-meter springboard competition scheduled for Friday (March 11) with prelims getting underway at 11:00 a.m. (CT).
