2010 Aztec HOF Induction Ceremony Information Sheet in PDF Format

Join San Diego State legends - both past and present - in welcoming this year's Aztec Hall of Fame Class of 2010 at the induction ceremony set for Friday, Nov. 5, in the Aztec Athletics Center.

Six individuals will enshrined in the Aztec Hall of Fame, presented by the Wise Foundation, including two football players in defensive linemen Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila (1996-99) and La'Roi Glover (1992-95), baseball player Doug Harvey (1955-56), four-time All-American track star Tonette Dyer (2002-04), two-time All-American volleyball player John Hyden (1992-95) and former Director of Athletics Fred Miller (1985-95).

A reception will begin the festivities on Nov. 5, at 5:30 p.m., followed by the official ceremony which is slated to start at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased in advance by Friday, Oct. 29, through the Aztec Club at 619-594-6444.

On Saturday, Nov. 6, join the newest Aztec Hall of Fame members at the SDSU-Colorado State football game at Qualcomm Stadium. The pre-game festivities begin in Aztec Village, followed by the game at 7 p.m. The Aztec Hall of Fame Class will be recognized in a special halftime ceremony. Game tickets are available through the Aztec ticket office at 619-283-SDSU.

The Aztec Hall of Fame, presented by the Wise Foundation, inducted its first members in 1988 and has welcomed a new group of legends every year through 1999. Inductions were put on hold for two years while work was completed on the Aztec Athletics Center, which is the first permanent home of the Hall of Fame.

The following is a quick look at this year's Aztec Hall of Fame inductees:

Tonette Dyer
Women's Track & Field
2002-04

A four-time All-American, Tonette Dyer was a six-time conference outdoor champion and placed first on three occasions at the league indoor meet ... As a senior, she took fourth in the 200 meters and fifth in the 100 meters at the NCAA outdoor championships ... Dyer also earned All-America honors in the 400 meters in 2002, and as a member of the Aztecs' 4x400 relay in 2003 ... She finished her career as the school record-holder in nine different events and garnered the 2004 MWC Outstanding Performance Award.

Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila
Football
1996-99

Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila starred at defensive end, posting SDSU career records for both sacks (33) and tackles for loss (67) ... The three-time first-team all-league pick had 242 career tackles and was a finalist for the Bronko Nagurski Award as a senior ... Drafted in the fifth round by Green Bay, he played nine NFL seasons (2000-08), logging 286 tackles and earning a trip to the 2003 Pro Bowl ... He finished his career as the Packers' all-time career sacks leader with 74.5, including 10 or more in four consecutive years (2001-04).

La'Roi Glover
Football
1992-95

La'Roi Glover was a first-team all-conference honoree on the defensive line for the Aztecs, finishing with 44.5 tackles for loss, including 18.5 sacks ... The two-time SDSU team captain played 13 seasons in the NFL from 1996-2008 with four teams, combining for 320 career tackles and 83.5 sacks ... The Pt. Loma High grad was named to six consecutive Pro Bowls from 2000-05, was a unanimous first-team all-Pro in 2000, when he led the league in sacks with 17, and was selected to the 2000s NFL All-Decade Team.

Doug Harvey
Baseball
1955-56

Inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2010, Doug Harvey was a two-year letterwinner for the San Diego State baseball team, playing catcher, shortstop and second and first base ... Harvey had a career .366 batting average with the Aztecs, before becoming a MLB National League umpire for 31 years from 1962-92 ... Overall, he umpired 4,673 regular-season games during his career and worked five World Series, six All-Star games and nine National League Championship Series.

John Hyden
Men's Volleyball
1992-95

A two-time first-team All-American at SDSU, John Hyden led the nation in kills per game (7.3) in 1994, tallying an NCAA single-match record 56 kills against LBSU ... Hyden was a member of the U.S. National Team from 1995-2000, competing in the 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games ... After playing overseas, he moved onto beach volleyball in 2001, winning seven tournaments and ranking in the top 20 six consecutive years ... The Mt. Carmel High graduate was voted the 2009 AVP Defensive Player of the Year.

Fred Miller
Director of Athletics
1985-95

Fred Miller served as athletic director at SDSU from 1985-95 ... His accomplishments included gaining student support to build the Aztec Recreation Center and the on-campus basketball arena, initiating one of the first corporate sponsorship programs in collegiate athletics and establishing the Aztec Hall of Fame ... A founding member of the Fiesta Bowl, he acted as the primary negotiator for ESPN's contracts for NCAA football games, helped found the PCAA and the MPSF and is a past president of NACDA.
