ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - San Diego State Diego State opened its 2010-11 Mountain West Conference campaign by recording wins over Air Force (245-55), Colorado State (208-92) and New Mexico (211-89) at a triple dual meet held at the Seidler Natatorium in Albuquerque Saturday afternoon. The wins improved SDSU's dual meet record to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the MWC.

Over the course of the meet, San Diego State won 11 individual events plus both relays with five swimmers picking up a pair of first-place finishes each. The meet marked SDSU's first-ever win over MWC foe Colorado State as the Aztecs dominated its three opponents on the day.

The meet began with San Diego State taking the top two spots in the 200 medley relay. The foursome of Kelly Marquenie, Stephanie Koch, Jessica Crider and Meghan Zimmer clocked 1:43.74 to win the race with a mark that ranks as the fourth-best in school history. Second place was captured by the team of Shelley Perkins, Allison Stuhr, Shaida Solimani and Kim Bierwith. Their time of 1:47.35 goes down as the 10th-best time in school history.

Kelly Marquenie then won the 1000 freestyle in 10:14.60 with teammate Melanie Garibaldi finishing second in 10:33.24. Marquenie would later take first in the 500 free in 5:01.84 and again Garibaldi would be right behind her with a mark of 5:05.83.

Sophomore Stephanie Koch would add first-place results in both the 100 free (51.67) and 200 free (1:52.26) plus a second place in the 50 free (23.99). She just missed winning the latter event as teammate Kim Bierwith won the 50 free in 23.94.

Leona Jennings added a pair of individual wins in the 100 backstroke (56.71) and 200 individual medley. (2:06.65). She also picked up points with a third-place finish in the 200 backstroke (2:06.65).

SDSU's other double winners included Brooke Vessey in the 100 fly (57.18) and 200 fly (2:05.99) along with Katelyn Weddle in both breaststroke races (100 breast in 1:03.89 and 200 breast in 2:21.03).

In the diving, Kristen Meier recorded third-place results in both the one- and three-meter events. Her score of 279.80 in the three-meter ranks as the third-highest score for an SDSU diver while her mark of 255.20 goes into the SDSU record book as the sixth-best.

The Aztecs wrapped up the meet by winning the 400 freestyle relay. The quartet of Leona Jennings, Katelyn Weddle, Brooke Vessey and Emilee Jennings won the race with a time of 3:30.85.

Up next for San Diego State is a home dual meet against preseason conference favorite Brigham Young on Thursday, Nov. 4, at 1:00 p.m. (PT) at the Aztec Aquaplex.
