SAN DIEGO - Ryan Lindley threw for 303 yards and two touchdowns as the Aztecs opened their season with a 47-0 victory of Nicholls State of Louisiana Saturday at Qualcomm Stadium.

Lindley, who completed 17 of 26 passes, threw two TD strikes, 71 and 18 yards, to DeMarco Sampson, who caught seven passes and set a school record for receiving yards, 179, in an opening game.

The Aztecs gained 218 yards on the ground and scored four rushing touchdowns, two by Davon Brown and one each by Walter Kazee and Ronnie Hillman.

Kazee rushed for 74 yards while Brown and Hillman each rushed 65 yards.

San Diego State finished with 531 yards while Nicholls State picked up 171.

Abel Perez kicked two field goals of 44 and 27 yards.

It marked the first meeting between the two schools.
