SAN DIEGO - For the fifth straight year, the San Diego State softball team will play all of its fall games at SDSU Softball Stadium, head coach Kathy Van Wyk announced Tuesday.
The schedule begins Friday, Oct. 29, with a game against Southwestern CC at 6 p.m. The Aztecs will face the cross-town Toreros of USD at 1 p.m. on the following day.
SDSU will play Western Arizona CC on Saturday, Nov. 6 before squaring off against a national pro fast pitch team on Friday, Nov. 12 at 6 p.m.
The remainder of the fall schedule includes games against Santa Anna CC (Nov. 13), San Diego CC (Nov. 17), and Palomar CC (Nov. 19.)
The Aztecs will close out the their fall season against a men's fast pitch team on Nov. 20, at 1 p.m. in a game that will serve as the final tune-up before the annual Alumni game. The date and time of the Alumni game have not been announced yet.
Admission to all fall softball events is free and the games do not count towards the 2011 season record.
The 2010 Aztecs finished with a 34-16 record last season and made an appearance in the NCAA tournament for the third straight season and the fourth time in the last five campaigns. SDSU went 27-8 in its last 35 games and loses only one senior from last year's team. The Aztecs are led by NFCA All-American pitcher Samantha Beasley, who ranked seventh in the nation last season with a 1.20 ERA and recorded a school record 354 strikeouts.
