SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State football team has been labeled as the Mountain West Conference's potential surprise outfit in the Rivals.com season preview.

The college sports web portal praised the Aztecs' passing game, and listed SDSU's receiver unit as the conference's best. Seniors Vincent Brown and DeMarco Sampson were both named to the preseason all-conference first team, and Rivals.com called senior Alston Umuolo "arguably the MWC's top tight end." The trio combined for 129 catches, 1,872 yards and 17 touchdowns last season, despite Brown missing the final five games (and most of a sixth) due to injury.

Rivals.com also listed the Aztecs' offensive backfield, led by junior quarterback Ryan Lindley, as the fourth-best in the conference, and four of the site's five football writers picked Lindley to lead the league in passing. In his first year of tutelage under offensive coordinator Al Borges, Lindley finished second in the conference with 3,054 passing yards, and tied for second with 23 touchdown tosses.

The Aztecs kick off their 2010 season with a home date against Nicholls State on Sept 4. Other notable dates include the Sept. 25 KGB Sky Show and Kirk Morrison Replica Jersey Night on Nov. 20.

Season tickets start at just $56 for six games. Tickets are available through the San Diego State ticket office at (619) 283-7378.
