SAN DIEGO - San Diego State head women's basketball coach Beth Burns will be among the featured speakers at this year's Achieving Coaching Excellence (ACE) Program at the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind., on Wednesday, June 16.
Burns is part of ACE's on-court development session and is scheduled to speak for over an hour about her coaching philosophies, career path and her do's and don'ts for building a successful program. She will also give an on-court demonstration of her favorite plays or practice drills.
The ACE Program is administered by the Black Coaches and Administrators (BCA) and supported by the NCAA. According to the organization's website, the program is designed to promote the collegiate athletic coaching profession to ethnic minority basketball coaches and provide professional development strategies and leadership skills.
Burns, the winningest coach in program history, enters her sixth season of her second stint at San Diego State in 2010-11. Last year, she led the Aztecs to the Mountain West Conference Championship and a berth in the NCAA Sweet Sixteen. Burns carries an 18-year head coaching record of 312-220, including seven trips to the NCAAs and seven 20-plus win campaigns.
