AUSTIN, Texas - Kai Wheeler and Alex Evans wrapped up competition for San Diego State Saturday in the final day of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship West Preliminary Rounds in Austin, Texas.
Wheeler and Evans finished 38th and 39th, respectively, in the triple jump, but failed to advance to Eugene, Ore., for the NCAA Championship final rounds. Wheeler finished 38th with a leap of 39 feet, 1 ¼ inches, while Evans jumped 39-01.00.
The Aztecs qualified 11 for the West region preliminary rounds, but no athlete advanced to compete for a national title in Eugene.
