COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Five San Diego State athletes were named to the 2010 all-Mountain West Conference Outdoor Track and Field team, the league announced Monday. To earn all-conference honors, an athlete has to finish in the top three in her respective event.

Stephanie James and Katie Morgan were each honored in the pole vault, while Alex Evans (triple jump), Briana Johnson (100-meter hurdles) and Jeanette McConnell (discus throw) each picked up all-MWC accolades in different events.

On Friday, James and Morgan finished second and third in the pole vault. James, a three-time MWC indoor pole vault champion (2007-08, 2010), cleared a height of 13 feet, 5 ¼ inches. The 2008 NCAA outdoor pole vault champion while at Cal, Morgan vaulted 13-01.50.

In the triple jump on Saturday, Evans took third with a leap of 41-00.25, the seventh-best jump in school history. Also on Saturday, Johnson finished runner-up in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.92 seconds. McConnell, meanwhile, took third in the discus throw (145-11) on Friday.

The five athletes combined to score 34 points for SDSU.
