SAN DIEGO - Senior Brittany Knudsen (San Diego/Escondido HS) and sophomore Ashley Rose (Antioch, Calif.) each homered, and sophomore Justeen Maeva (San Diego/Mira Mesa HS/Cal State Bakersfield) had three of the team's 13 hits in the San Diego State softball team's 6-1 victory over New Mexico Friday in Albuquerque. The Aztecs improved to 32-14 overall and 10-4 in the Mountain West Conference, while the Lobos fell to 11-36 and 1-13.

Maeva was 3-for-4 and drove in a pair of runs, while Knudsen had two hits, two runs and two RBIs. Rose and junior Eva Sahatdjian (Fresno, Calif.) each added two hits, and redshirt junior Lindsey Marquez (Tustin, Calif.) had a pinch-hit RBI double.

SDSU scored in every inning but the fourth and seventh. In the top of the first, sophomore Felicia Reifschneider (San Diego/Morse HS) led off with a single and moved to second on a groundout by junior Jessica Camello (Temecula, Calif.). Knudsen then drilled a homer over the left-center field fence, her third of the season and 10th of her career.

Stefanie Carramusa answered for UNM in the bottom of the inning when she homered off San Diego State junior right-hander Samantha Beasley (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS).

The Aztecs, however, scored a run each in the second, third, fifth and sixth to break open a close game. Rose led off the second with her first career home run to put SDSU up, 3-1.

In the third, Knudsen singled up the middle and scored on Maeva's double down the right field line.

Maeva added another RBI in the fifth as Camello singled, stole second and scored on a single to left-center field, giving San Diego State a 5-1 advantage.

In the sixth, Rose singled and was replaced by redshirt freshman Roshana Lavery (San Diego/Mission Bay HS). Lavery moved to third on a groundout by junior Jen Wisneski (Riverside, Calif.) and a wild pitch. After a strikeout, Marquez plated Lavery with a pinch-hit double and the final run of the game.

Beasley (27-9) settled down after the first inning homer. She allowed the one run on five hits and no walks, while striking out five over six innings. Sophomore Bailey Micetich (Woodland, Calif.) struck out one in an inning of relief.

The Aztecs wrap up its regular season tomorrow with a game at New Mexico beginning at 1 p.m. MT.
