LA JOLLA, Calif. - The San Diego State track and field team posted 11 top-10 finishes in the final day of the UC San Diego Triton Invitational Saturday in La Jolla, Calif.

On the track, Sara Beyers led the way with a second-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Beyers completed the race in 11 minutes, 34.21 seconds, over 45 seconds faster than the only other time she ran the event this season (12:19.85).

Three other Aztecs - Kiersten Kirkland, Amber Waddell and Jordan Davis - took seventh in their respective event. Kirkland, who won the heptathlon earlier this season at the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational, was seventh in the 200 with a time of 25.11. Waddell (400 - 58.02) and Davis (3,000 - 10:44.75) each recorded season-best times.

The pole vaulters once again put on an impressive display, taking third, fourth, sixth and ninth in the event. Kelsy Hintz (third) set a lifetime best by clearing 13 feet, 3 ½ inches. The mark is the fifth-best in the country by a freshman and tied for the fifth-best mark in school history.

Katie Morgan (fourth) cleared 13-03.50 and Stephanie James (sixth) vaulted 12-09.50, while Katie Vo set a personal-best mark of 12-03.50.

Julianne Alarcio set a collegiate-best mark in the long jump with her fourth-place leap of 19-02.00, while Jeanette McConnell improved her personal-best and eighth-best all-time mark of 45-05.00 in the shot put. Maria Rodriguez joined McConnell in the top-10 in the event with a heave of 43-09.00.

SDSU heads to the Steve Scott Invitational in Irvine, Calif., to compete in the two-day event, which begins Saturday.
