LA JOLLA, Calif. - A handful of Aztecs competed in the first day of the UC San Diego Triton Invitational on Friday.
In the pole vault, Christina Jakymiw and Kim Stamos each cleared 10 feet, 8 inches to finish in a tie with three others for seventh place.
Jeanette McConnell, meanwhile, led the throwers by taking eighth in the discus (162-08) and 18th in the hammer (152-07). Andrea Martinez had San Diego State's best hammer throw with a toss of 156-09.
The majority of the SDSU track and field team will wrap up its weekend competition Saturday.
