LA JOLLA, Calif. - The San Diego State track and field team sent a small contingent of athletes to compete at the UC San Diego Quad Meet Saturday in La Jolla.

The pole vaulters led the way for the Aztecs, taking the top five places including Katie Morgan, who made her SDSU debut in the event. Morgan, a 2008 NCAA champion in the pole vault while at Cal, won the vault yesterday with a jump of 13 feet, 00.25 inches. The clear was good enough for seventh place on the school's all-time list.

She was followed by Kelsy Hintz (12-01.50), Katie Vo (11-03.75), Christina Jakymiw (11-03.75) and Moriah Roberge (11-03.75).

Other quality performances at the meet came from Sarah Kaster in the high jump (second, 5-03.75), Kai Wheeler in the triple jump (first, 38-01.75) and Maria Rodriguez in the shot put (first, 40-10.25).

San Diego State will compete in the 2010 Mountain West Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, beginning Thursday on the campus of New Mexico in Albuquerque, N.M.
