#58 UC IRVINE (0-1) at #42 SAN DIEGO STATE (2-0)
Saturday, Jan. 30 | Noon PT | Aztec Tennis Center

AZTEC STORY LINES
- San Diego State (2-0) continues its three-game homestand with a match against No. 58 UC Irvine (0-1) on Saturday, Jan. 30, at Aztec Tennis Center. First serve is slated for noon at SDSU's on-campus facility.

- SDSU is coming off a season-opening doubleheader sweep of UC Riverside and Cal State Fullerton last weekend. The Aztecs are looking to improve to 3-0 on the year for the third consecutive season. UC Irvine, meanwhile, heads south after losing to ninth-ranked USC, 6-1, on Monday.

- The Aztecs will look to improve upon their 30-7 all-time record vs. the Anteaters. San Diego State is looking to win its second straight in the series after dropping matches in 2007 and 2008.

- In its history, San Diego State has enjoyed a lot of success against its Big West counterparts. In 139 all-time matches against the league, SDSU is 126-13.

- Julia Trunk, who is ranked No. 11 in the Southwest Region, will look to stay perfect this weekend at the No. 1 singles spot. After winning both of her matches at the top of the singles ladder, the junior enters this week's match with a singles mark of 7-1 for the 2009-10 academic year (fall and spring competition). Other Aztecs to post a 2-0 mark last week were Alicia Aguilar and Julia Wais.

- Similar to Trunk, Roxanne Ellison and Sierra Ellison have been dominant all year long. The sisters went 2-0 last week, winning at both No. 1 and No. 2 by a combined score of 16-1.

- Head coach Peter Mattera is in his 17th season. The San Diego State graduate has guided the Aztecs to a 247-168 record and to 11 NCAA Tournament appearances, including a berth in the tourney last season.
