SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The San Diego State swim team recorded its first-ever win over Mountain West Conference foe Utah, taking a 173-125 decision in Salt Lake City Saturday afternoon. With the victory, the Aztecs improved to 11-2 overall and 5-2 in league competition. The Utes, who also dropped their dual meet against Colorado State held at the same time, dropped to 6-4 (4-2 MWC).

In the head-to-head competition between the Aztec and Utes, SDSU claimed first place in eight individual events and a pair of relays.

Leona Jennings led San Diego State with wins in both the 100 backstroke (56.28) and the 100 butterfly (57.62). She was also involved in both the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays captured by SDSU.

In the opening 200 medley relay, she combined with Katelyn Weddle, Jamie Vessey and Emilee Jennings to win with a time of 145.47. In the 200 free relay, it was the Jennings sisters, Stephanie Koch and Kim Bierwith who grabbed top sot in 1:36.43.

Freshman Katelyn Weddle and senior Petra Radovic won two individual events apiece with Meghan Zimmer and Koch notching first-place finishes in one race each.

Weddle took first in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke with times of 1:03.82 and 2:19.02 respectively. Radovic, meanwhile, won the two distance freestyle events, capturing the 500 free in 5:01.19 and the 1000 free in 10:24.26.

Koch was first in the 200 free (1:52.32) in addition to her relay effort with Zimmer winning the 200 back in 2:05.16.

Next up for San Diego State is the team's final road trip of the season in two weeks as it travels to face MWC opponent Wyoming on Friday, Jan. 29, in Laramie followed by a dual meet against Northern Colorado on the following day (Jan. 31) in Greeley, Colo.
