PROVO, Utah - The San Diego State swimming and diving team saw its eight-meet win streak come to an end as it dropped a 194-105 decision to preseason Mountain West Conference favorite Brigham Young Thursday afternoon in Provo, Utah. With the loss, the Aztecs saw their record fall to 10-2 overall and 4-2 in league competition. BYU, meanwhile, remained perfect on the season at 7-0 (4-0 MWC).

SDSU won four events during the meet led by freshman Leona Jennings, who captured both the 100 and 200 back with times of 56.17 and 2:03.11 respectively. She also finished second in the 200 individual medley in 2:08.96.

Katelyn Weddle was victorious in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:19.57. Earlier in the meet she finished second in the 100 breast by .07 second, marking the first in six races this season that she did not take first place in that event.

San Diego State's other victory came in the 1000 free where frosh Melanie Garibaldi went 10:31.03.

Two other Aztecs finished second in each of their two events. Stephanie Koch was the runner-up in the 100 free (51.95) and 200 free (1:51.69) while teammate Brooke Vessey took second in the 100 fly (58.11) and 200 fly (2:07.73).

SDSU's 400 relay quartet of Koch, Emilee Jennings, Jessica Crider and Meghan Zimmer also finished second in 3:29.49, a time that ranks as the fourth-fastest time ever for an SDSU foursome in the event.

Up next for the Aztecs is a short trip to Salt Lake City where they will take on Utah on Saturday, Jan. 16, at 3:00 p.m. (MT) at the Ute Natatorium.
