SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State swimming and diving team captured first place in seven individual events and also turned in the top times in both relays as it recorded dual meet victories over Oregon State (160-118) and UNLV (157-136) Saturday afternoon at the Aztec Aquaplex. The win improved the Aztecs to 8-1 on the season and marked the program's first wins over a Pac-10 squad as well as conference foe UNLV.

SDSU got off on the right foot as the foursome of Leona Jennings, Katelyn Weddle, Kim Bierwith and Emilee Jennings captured the 200 medley relay in the first event of the afternoon. Their time of 1:44.53 not only established a new Aquaplex record, but was also the third-fastest time recorded in the event by an SDSU squad.

Leona Jennings would go on to take first place in both the 100 and 200 backstroke with times of 55.90 and 2:01.38 respectively. Both of those marks set new pool records and the freshman from Seattle later added a first-place finish in the 200 individual medley (2:05.15).

Freshman Katelyn Weddle was San Diego State's other double winner as she took top spot in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke. Her marks in those events were 1:03.28 and 2:17.97 as she broke the Aztec Aquaplex records that she had established earlier in the season.

The Aztecs' other individual first-place finishes came from senior Brooke Vessey and freshman Stephanie Koch. Vessey was victorious in the 100 butterfly in 56.92 while Koch captured the 100 freestyle in 51.60 (a new pool record as well).

SDSU capped off its day with the top time in the 400 free relay team. The quartet of Stephanie Koch, Emilee Jennings, Meghan Zimmer and Petra Radovic turned in a mark of 3:29.39, the fourth-best time ever by an Aztec foursome.

The Aztecs will now take time off for the holidays before returning to action on Thursday, Jan. 7, with a double dual meet against Boise State and Tulane set for a 12:00 p.m. (PT) start at the Aztec Aquaplex.
