Winners of Five Straight Games, San Diego State Looks For Grand Canyon State Sweep on Saturday at Arizona State
Winners of five consecutive games, San Diego State (8-2) leaves the state of California for the first time this season looking for its third victory over a team from the Grand Canyon State when the Aztecs face Arizona State (7-3) on Saturday afternoon.

Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. PT, with the contest being televised by FS Arizona and Fox College Sports. The game can be heard in Southern California on AM 600 KOGO with Ted Leitner providing the play-by-play. Live stats will also be available on GoAztecs.com.

San Diego State has not played since last Saturday due to final examinations and will play a pair of road games in a four-day period starting with ASU on Saturday. The Aztecs will travel to Des Moines, Iowa, to face Drake on Tuesday.

Last Saturday, the Aztecs posted their largest margin of victory over a Pac-10 school in the Division I era and limited Arizona to its lowest scoring output in 801 games, with a 63-46 victory over the Wildcats. San Diego State never trailed in the game, led by as many as 21 points and owned a double-digit advantage for the final 23:42 of the contest.

Forward Kawhi Leonard, posted his second consecutive double-double and the third of his freshman season with a game-high-tying 13 points and game-high 12 rebounds. Leonard, who was named Mountain West Conference Co-Player of the Week on Monday, had seven offensive rebounds in the contest. Junior guard D.J. Gay added 12 points, two assists and two steals in the game.

San Diego State enjoyed a 38-25 rebound advantage, improving to 8-0 this season when owning an advantage on the glass. The Aztecs also had one of its best defensive efforts of the season, limiting the Wildcats to 46 points and 35.6 percent field-goal shooting, while forcing 16 turnovers. SDSU also had 10 steals and 10 blocked shots, which was one short of the Viejas Arena record.

Now the Aztecs face their third opponent from the state of Arizona after already recording victories over Northern Arizona (89-48 on Nov. 28) and Arizona. This marks the sixth road contest for San Diego State this season, which has come away with victories on each of its past two trips.

Arizona State leads the series 15-10, which dates back to 1937. The Sun Devils won the most recent meeting, a 59-52 decision last season in San Diego. Arizona State has won the last four encounters in Tempe by an average of 11.3 points. SDSU's last win in Tempe came while Jimmy Carter was in the White House, a 77-74 victory on Jan. 7, 1978. A disco track called "Le Freak" by Chic was the number one song in the country, Oakland's Mark Van Eeghen was on the cover of Sports Illustrated and Steve Fisher was a high school coach at Rich East High School in Park Forest, Ill.
