SDSU Postgame Notes
San Diego State vs. TCU - November 7, 2009
TEAM/SERIES NOTES
- San Diego State dropped to 0-5 all-time against the Horned Frogs and saw its two-game win streak come to an end.
OFFENSIVE NOTES
- With his third quarter touchdown to DeMarco Sampson, Aztec signalcaller Ryan Lindley has thrown for at least one touchdown in each of the last 15 outings, dating back to the New Mexico game in 2008 (he missed the game prior vs. AFA due to injury).
- Lindley has tossed 13 TDs in the last four contests, 21 on the season and 37 for his career. The 21 passing TDs this year tie for 10th in school season history and are the most by an Aztec since Billy Blanton had 29 in 1996. The 37 career TDs are ninth in the SDSU career record book.
- Sampson improved his streak of consecutive games with a TD reception to four straight. He has eight receiving TDs in the last four games and 10 for his career.
- Lindley's streak of 124 consecutive pass attempts without an interception came to an end with 1:46 left in the first half. That streak had dated back to the second quarter of the BYU contest on Oct. 17.
- TCU did not record a tackle for a loss or a sack this afternoon until the fourth quarter. The Frogs finished with only three tackles behind the line of scrimmage, after entering the game with 45 (5.6/g) in its previous eight outings in 2009.
DEFENSIVE NOTES
- Nick Sandford and Jerry Milling tied for the team lead in tackles with six on the afternoon.
- J.J. Autele had his first career tackle for a loss.
SPECIAL TEAMS NOTES
- Place-kicker Lane Yoshida made his first field goals since coverting two against New Mexico State on Oct. 3 ... The 45-yarder and the 48-yarder this afternoon are Yoshida's sixth and seventh career field goals of 40 or more yards and his third and fourth from that distance this season. The 48-yarder is a season-long effort and is one yard off his career long of 49 yards that he kicked in 2008 vs. BYU.
Yoshida has two 40+-yard field goals in two games this season with the other being the Idaho contest when he had a 47 and a 46-yarder.
- Aztec senior Davion Mauldin tied the school-record for most kick returns in a game with eight, equaling the total posted by both Vincent Brown (2006) and Ray Bass (2007). Mauldin's 151 kick return yards are seventh in school game history.
OTHER NOTES
- The Aztecs scored a touchdown for the 35th straight game.
- SDSU wideout Jon Toledo caught his first pass of the year in the fourth quarter and first since the 2007 campaign. The 23-yard reception was a career-long, nearly doubling his career receiving total entering the game.
