LONG BEACH, Calif. - Two more San Diego State school record fell as the Aztec swim team completed competition at the final day of the Toshiba Classic in Long Beach, Calif. In addition to the new SDSU records, the Aztecs turned in the second-best times in school history in three of the day's other six events.

San Diego State finished the three-day meet with 696 points to finish fourth of 25 teams behind only Stanford, Cal and UCLA. (See below for a compete listing of team scores.)

Freshmen Leona Jennings and Stephanie Koch set new SDSU records in the 200 backstroke and 100 freestyle respectively.

Jennings' reocrded a time time of 1:57.57 in the 200 back prelims and she went on to a second-place finsih in the finals. In that same event, Meghan Zimmer's mark of 2:01.33 goes down as the sixth-best time for an Aztec swimmer while Kelsy Diener's 2:02.71 ranks seventh.

Koch's school-record setting time of 50.33 in the 100 free was one of four times turned in by SDSU swimmers in the race that will enter to all-time top 10. Alexis McCoy (52.04 - 4th), Allison Stuhr (52.31 - 7th) and Diener (52.32 - 8th) also turned in performances that were among the best produced by the Aztec swim program.

In the 200 breaststroke, Katelyn Weddle missed a school record by .14 second when she went 2:14.20 to finish fourth in the event. Senior Elena Karpeeva's time of 2:17.77 goes down as the third-fastest time for an Aztec swimmer.

Competing for the first time this fall in the 1650 freestyle, Petra Radovic went 16:51.57 to finish sixth in the race while teammate Melanie Garibaldi swam a 16:57 .78 to place 10th of 66 competitors. The times ranked as the second- and third-best ever fro the Aztecs.

In the final individual event of the meet, senior Nino Metsar turned in a 2:05.14 to move into the Aztec record book with the seventh-fastest time for an SDSU athlete.

The 400 freestyle relay quartet of Leona Jennings, Radovic, Meghan Zimmer and Tarin Corwin missed a new school record by .05 second when they finished in 3:27.65. The foursome of McCoy, Stuhr, Diener and Kim Bierwith entered the SDSU top 10 list with the eighth-best time of 3:32.33.

Over the three days of the 20909 Toshiba Classic, San Diego State swimmers set a total of 12 school records including 10 individual and two relay events. Five of those new marks went to Leona Jennings who set new standards in the 100 and 200 backstroke, 100 butterfly and 200 individual medley plus swam on the record-setting 200 medley relay team. Stephanie Koch also had a hand in five school record (50 free, 100 free, 200 free plus the 20 medley relay and 800 free relay). (See below for a compete summary of school records set this weekend).

San Diego State will now have a week off from competition before it resumes its dual meet schedule with a contest against Cal State Bakersfield on Saturday, Dec. 5, at 1:00 p.m. at the Aztec Aquaplex.
