LONG BEACH, Calif. - San Diego State swimmers set school records in all seven events during the second day of the Toshiba Classic in Long Beach, Calif. With one day reaming in the three-day meet, the Aztecs find themselves in third place (of 24 teams) behind Stanford and Cal.

Katelyn Weddle captured SDSU's first win of the Classic when she won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:02.21. The freshman from Yuma, Ariz., set a new Aztec record when she went 1:01.45 in her preliminary heat. The prelims also produced a pair of times that are among the all-time school top 10 as Nino Metsar went 1:05.14 (fifth-best) and Emilee Jennings swam a 1:06.10 (ninth-best).

In the 100 backstroke, freshman Leona Jennings set an Aztec record as she finished third of 129 swimmers with a mark of 54.22. Teammate Allison Stuhr's time of 57.24 in the prelims enters the SDSU all-time list as the seventh-best time.

A third first-year Aztec, Stephanie Koch from Boone, Iowa, swam to a sixth-place finish in the 200 free just ahead of fellow Aztec Meghan Zimmer in seventh. Koch's 1:48.60 in the prelims established a new SDSU record while Zimmer turned in the second-best time in Aztec history with a 1:49.45. In addition, senior Petra Radovic's time of 1:52.27 enter the SDSU list as the No. 9 position.

Another senior, Elena Karpeeva, set a new school record in the 400 IM as she finished ninth with a time of 4:22.03. Australian freshman Melanie Garibaldi's mark of 4:32.49 in the race is SDSU's seventh-best.

In the day's other individual event, the 100 butterfly, freshman Leona Jenning's time of 55.12 in the prelims. Three other Aztecs turned in top 10 times including Kyla Power (56.88 - 5th), Shannon Bray (57.04 - 7th) and Emilee Jennings (57.34 - 10th).

In addition to setting school record in the day's five individual races, the Aztecs also notched SDSU records in a pair of relays. In the 200 medley relay the foursome of Leona Jennings, Kim Bierwith, Weddle and Koch went 1:41.93. The session's final event, the 800 free relay, saw the team of Koch, Zimmer, Radovic and Jessica Crider post an SDSU record time of 7:26.35.

Action continues on day final of the three-day Toshiba Classic on Saturday, Nov. 21, at 9:00 a.m. at the Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool in Long Beach. Saturday's events include individual races in the 1650 free, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke and 200 butterfly plus the 400 freestyle relay.
