SAN DIEGO - SERIES/HOME OPENER NOTES
- San Diego State moved to 1-0 all-time against Southern Utah ... The Aztecs improve to 60-23-4 all-time in home openers ... Brady Hoke became the first Aztec head coach to win his first home game since Ted Tollner in 1994 ... SDSU's recorded its earliest win in a campaign since 2004.

SCORING POINTS
- SDSU has now scored a touchdown in 28 straight games.

- San Diego State registered the team's first safety in five years in the first quarter. The Aztecs' last safety came against New Mexico on Oct. 23, 2004 (A 19-9 SDSU loss).

- SDSU has scored in the first quarter in each of its last three games. That streak is the longest for the Aztecs since 2007.

- SDSU freshman cornerback Leon McFadden scored a defensive extra point in the first quarter and was also credited with his second blocked extra-point in as many contests this season. In 12 games in 2008, SDSU only had one blocked kick.

- SDSU sophomore quarterback Ryan Lindley scored his second career rushing touchdown on his first carry of 2009 in the second quarter.

OFFENSIVE NOTABLES
- SDSU recorded more than 400 yards of offense for just the second time in the last 10 games.

- SDSU has not allowed a sack in each of the team's first two games of 2009 and in each of the last five outings overall.

DEFENSIVE NOTABLES
- SDSU had four sacks in tonight's game. The Aztecs had three sacks vs. UCLA, giving them seven on the season. A year ago, SDSU only compiled 13 sacks in 12 outings.

CAREER FIRSTS
- Running back Walter Kazee became the third true freshman to start for the Aztecs this season. Kazee joins fellow RB Anthony Miller and cornerback Leon McFadden, who each started in the opener with UCLA. Junior defensive end Jacob Tauanuu also made his first career start tonight.

- Redshirt freshmen Rob Andrews, Greg Scott and Alec Johnson, freshman Preston King and sophomore Demetrius Barksdale logged their first career games in the Red & Black against Southern Utah.

BROWN BULLETS
- Aztec wideout Vincent Brown had six catches for 142 yards and a touchdown. It is his third consecutive game with 100 or more yards receiving, after posting 139 yards against UCLA and 119 yards vs. UNLV in the 2008 season finale. Brown is the 15th Aztec to log three consecutive 100-yard receiving games. It is the 18th time overall an SDSU player has turned the trick. Brown now has four career 100-yard receiving games.

PICKS R US
- SDSU recorded its third, fourth and fifth interceptions of 2009, as Nick Sandford tallied his first career pick, Aaron Moore came away with his sixth career INT and Luke Laolagi picked off his third. The Aztecs only had nine interceptions in 2008, including a season-high three vs. Idaho.

- Laolagi has an interception in each of his last three outings, including the 2008 finale with UNLV.

OTHER NOTES
- Aztec junior running back Brandon Sullivan logged a career-high 111 yards rushing on a career-high 24 carries. Sullivan's previous highs were 70 yards against UNLV in 2007 and 15 carries against Cal Poly in 2008. It is the first 100-yard rushing game of his career and first for an Aztec since Atiyyah Henderson had 177 yards vs. CSU in 2008.

- The last time SDSU had a 100-yard rusher and receiver in the same game was a year ago vs. Idaho, when Atiyyah Henderson ran for 100 yards and Vincent Brown (183 yards) and Mekell Wesley (109 yards) both went over 100 yards receiving.

- Quarterback Ryan Lindley has thrown for at least 200 yards in each of his last four games.

- Wideout DeMarco Sampson eclipsed his previous career highs for both catches with five and receiving yards with 64.

- Aztec freshman RB Anthony Miller scored his first career touchdown in the third quarter. Miller is the first true freshman to score a touchdown for SDSU since 2007, when Vincent Brown and Alston Umuolo each found the end zone.
