Aztecs Handle Thunderbirds Behind Lindley's Three Scores

SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Ryan Lindley threw for 287 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for another score to lead San Diego State to a 35-19 victory over Southern Utah Saturday night.

Vincent Brown caught six passes for 142 yards and one touchdown. He also contributed a 28-yard punt return and a 36-yard kickoff return for a total of 206 yards.

Brandon Sullivan led the Aztecs' rushing with a career-high 111 yards on 24 carries.

Southern Utah quarterback Cade Cooper completed 15 of 29 passes for 165 yards. He was intercepted three times and sacked three times. Fesi Sitake had seven receptions for 74 yards.

Austin Minefee rushed for 111 yards and a touchdown for the Thunderbirds (1-1).

The victory was Brady Hoke's first as coach of the Aztecs.
