BERKELEY, Calif. - The San Diego State track and field team wrapped up competition at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational on the campus of the University of California on Saturday.
Jessika Hornsby started things off for SDSU when she qualified for the 100-meter dash finals after posting a preliminary time of 12.18. The sophomore then went on to finish in second place in the finals with a runner-up time of 12.04.
In the 100-meter hurdles, Briana Johnson and Annimari Korte continued to post regional qualifying times as they finished in fourth and seventh place, respectively. Johnson set a personal record with her time of 13.63 as did Korte, who crossed the finish line in 13.84.
Darien Buc led all Aztecs in the 1,500-meter run with her 4:46.18 performance, which was 10th best in the field. Amy Brown came in 11th place with her personal-record time of 4:46.56 and Michelle Martinez clocked in at 4:53.13. Cross-country teammate Alma Escobar, meanwhile, erased her old Aztec personal record with her time of 4:56.32.
In the 400-meter dash, Alicia King was the lone Aztec to compete and set a personal record in the process. The sophomore finished with a lifetime-best time of 1:02.69, while coming in fifth place in her heat.
In the final event of the day, Hornsby and Karoline Koehler competed in the invitational of the 200-meter dash. Koehler finished in second place with a season-best effort of 24.04, while Hornsby recorded a fifth-place performance with her time of 25.16.
