SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State men's tennis team was unable to get past 45th-ranked TCU on Friday afternoon at the Aztec Tennis Center. The Aztecs fell to the Horned Frogs, 4-2, as doubles matches were scratched due to the threat of rain.
SDSU's lone senior, Bartosz Golas, was unable to pick up a win in his last home match, falling to No. 76 Kriegler Brink in third singles, 6-1, 6-1. Achim Ceban would defeat 62nd-ranked Slah Mbarek in first singles to even the match score, 7-6 (2), 6-2. In fourth singles, Zach Nichols defeated Giovanni Vaglietti, 6-4, 6-2, as Christopher Price got past Andre Feliz in fifth singles, 6-4, 6-4. Tim Schulz van Endert would fight back for San Diego State by downing Casey Powers in sixth singles, 6-2, 4-6, 7-5. In second singles No. 110 Emanuel Brighiu would clinch the win for TCU by defeating Juan Gomez, 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (8).
With the loss the Aztecs fall to 12-10 overall for the season and 0-2 in Mountain West standings. Up next SDSU will face Utah at 9 a.m. PT at the Aztec Tennis Center in the Aztecs final home match of the season.
