SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State-Stanford softball game scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday has been canceled due to inclement weather. The rest of the 19th annual Campbell/Cartier Classic will go on as scheduled, beginning with Long Beach State and Utah State on Saturday at 9 a.m.
The game would have featured two of the top 25 teams in the nation in the eighth-ranked Cardinal (6-1) and the No. 24 Aztecs (3-2). The rain started coming down at SDSU Softball Stadium around 5:30 p.m. during the Stanford-Long Beach State game, however, and conditions gradually worsened. After a 40-minute rain delay, the rest of the night's festivities were canceled with the Cardinal officially winning, 8-3.
