SAN DIEGO - San Diego State junior pitcher Stephen Strasburg and redshirt freshman quarterback Ryan Lindley have been named to San Diego Magazine's list of 50 People to Watch in 2009. Strasburg and Lindley were named to the list of local notables worth keeping an eye on, as published in the January 2009 issue.

Strasburg earned consensus All-American honors last season while finishing among the top three in the nation in strikeouts (133), earned run average (1.57) and strikeouts per nine innings (12.3). He was a member of the undefeated college Team USA last summer that won a pair of tournaments in Europe and he also picked up a bronze medal as the only collegiate player on the U.S. Olympic team in Beijing. The 2008 Mountain West Conference Pitcher of the Year was recently named to Rivals.com preseason all-conference team, the 2009 Brooks Wallace Player of the Year Award Watch list, the 2009 Louisville Slugger All-American team as selected by Collegiate Baseball and has also been named a preseason All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

Lindley turned in one of the most impressive freshman campaigns in the nation as he finished second in the Mountain West Conference in passing average per game (241.2 yards) and was third in total offense (2,591). He set an Aztec freshman record for pass completions in a single-outing (35), which is also good enough for a tie for third in the SDSU single-game record book. Lindley passed for 2,653 yards, converting on 242-of-427 (56.7 percent) attempts in his freshman season.
