SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's track team announced its 2008-09 schedule on Monday. The Aztecs will compete in four indoor meets before embarking on their outdoor season, which includes the Aztec Invitational on March 13-14.
The Aztecs begin their indoor campaign in Reno, Nev., for the National Pole Vault Summit on Jan. 2-3. At the end of the month, SDSU will travel to Flagstaff, Ariz., to participate in its first full-squad competition at the Mountain T's Invite on Jan. 30-31.
San Diego State begins the month of February in Albuquerque, N.M., where they will compete at the New Mexico Invitational on Feb. 6-7. Later, the Aztecs will spend their Valentine's Day in Nampa, Idaho, where they will compete at the Boise State Team Invitational. To close out the month of February, the Aztecs will compete in the Mountain West Conference Indoor Championships in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Feb. 26-28. Should an SDSU athlete qualify for indoor nationals, they will travel to College Station, Texas, for the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 13-14.
The Aztecs open their outdoor season in La Jolla at the San Diego City Championships on March 7 before playing host to the Aztec Invitational, March 13-14.
The following weekend, SDSU is slated to participate in two competitions during the weekend of March 20-21. They will participate in both the University of Arizona Invitational in Tucson, as well as the Trojan Invitational in Los Angeles. After the split-squad weekend, SDSU travels back to Los Angeles to participate in the Cal-Nevada Championships (March 27-28).
In the first week of April, San Diego State will again split its team as one group will compete at the Pomon-Pitzer Invitational, while the others will travel to the Stanford Invite. Both meets are scheduled for April 4-5.
The Aztecs will have another busy weekend on April 10-11, when they will participate at the Sea Ray Relays. For those who have completed competition in Knoxville, Tenn., they will then travel to Nashville for the Blue Moon Invite.
After competing in the South, San Diego State will travel back to California to take part in the Mt. SAC Relays, April15-18. That same weekend on April 18, some will travel to Cerritos, Calif., to compete in the Beach Invitational.
SDSU goes across the country the following week for the Penn Relays, which will take place in Philadelphia, Pa., on April 23-25. While some Aztecs are on the road, others will stay in San Diego to compete in the UCSD Invitational, which will be held on April 24-25. Another group of Aztecs will travel to Northern California that same weekend to compete in the Brutus Hamilton Invitational in Berkeley, Calif., on April 24-25.
The Aztecs will begin the month of May in San Diego to compete in the Quad Meet, which will take place on May 2. The MWC Championships are set for Laramie, Wyo., on May 13-16, while the NCAA Regional Championships will be held May 29-30 in Eugene, Ore. The season will culminate with the NCAA Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., on June 10-13.
