San Diego State held its fifth straight opponent this season to 59 points or less. It is the first time an Aztec squad has accomplished the feat since the 1982-83 season when their streak was run to five.
* A FINE NINE
SDSU runs its multiple-game in-season event winning streak to nine games with tonight's decision. Bookending the streak are wins coming in the state of Alaska. Win No. 1 of the streak came against Southern Miss at the 2005 BP Top of the World Classic.
* STAYING PERFECT
San Diego State upped its all-time series record vs. Seattle to 4-0 after meeting for the first time since Jan. 9, 1971.
* CHAMPIONSHIP EFFORT
The Aztecs earned a berth in the Great Alaska Shootout championship game and will have the opportunity to go undefeated in a multiple-game in-season event for the third straight season. ... SDSU will be making its first title game appearance since the 2001 Ford Red Raider Classic when they ultimately fell to the hosts, Texas Tech, 81-71.
* CONNECTING ON MORE THAN HALF FROM THE FIELD
SDSU connected on more than half of its field goal attempts for the first time this season. The Aztecs finished with a field-goal percentage of 50.9 percent after going 27-for-53 from the field. San Diego State was able to move above the 50 percent mark after shooting 71.4 percent (15-21) from the floor in the second half. ... SDSU also shot 57.1 percent from beyond the arc (8-14), its highest percentage of the year.
* HIT THEM, THEY'RE FREE
San Diego State made 13-of-17 free-throw attempts to log a percentage of 76.5, its highest of the season. The performance was a welcome sight after a horrendous 18-for-30 (60.0 percent) showing the previous night vs. Western Carolina.
* COME ONE, COME ALL
SDSU had all 12 players see action, marking the second time this year that every dressed player logged court time. It happened earlier this year vs. Fresno State at home.
PLAYER NOTES
* Kyle Spain scored a game-high 15 points... He scored in double figures for the fifth straight game and led the team in scoring for the fourth outing in a row... The Aztecs improve to 31-8 when scores at least 10 points in a game... He was 3-for-3 from beyond the arc and has made multiple three-point shots in every game this season... His two steals were a season high and marked the second game in a row that he has reached that total.
* Ryan Amoroso was the team's second-leading scorer with a season-high 13 points. It marked the second time this year that the senior has reached double figures in scoring. Amoroso also tied a career high with three steals and made a season-best four free throws.
* Richie Williams logged a game- and season-high eight assists. The Aztecs are 22-5 in their last 27 games when Williams has at least five assists in a game.
* Mehdi Cheriet scored a career-high 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting. The four field goals and two three-pointers were career bests for the junior. Cheriet also matched his personal best with one assist.
* Tim Shelton had a career-high three steals and grabbed six rebounds, just one shy of his season best of seven accomplished against Western Carolina in the quarterfinals. In the last two games, the freshman has 13 rebounds.
