FRESNO, Calif. - The San Diego State men's tennis team enjoyed a successful second day at the Bulldog Classic as the Aztecs picked up five victories in singles action at the Wathen Tennis Center on the campus of Fresno State.
With two wins already under his belt, Tim Schulz van Endert continued his title run with a straight-set upset over third-seeded Rob Foy of Cal Poly. Later in the evening, the Berlin, Germany, native easily advanced to the finals, defeating Jose Hilla (Fresno City), 6-3, 6-3. Schulz Van Endert will face the host school's Flavio Mollinedo in the championship match at 10 a.m. PT on Sunday.
Michael Beron also stayed alive in the consolation rounds of the C Draw, outlasting Troy Kellenberger, 5-7, 6-1, 10-8, before defeating Cal Poly's Nick Berger to advance to the finals where he will battle Tom Wolff of USD tomorrow.
Luis Rattenhuber tacked on another win for the Aztecs as he downed Alex Rosinski of Washington, 6-3, 6-4, to move on to the semifinals of the B Draw consolation bracket.
In doubles action, Jordan Colman and Matthew Tosches fell to UW's Brad Bator and Alex Rosinski, 8-4, in the quarterfinals.
