SAN DIEGO - The SDSU men's tennis team will be one of 10 teams to play in the ITA West-South Regional Tennis Tournament in Malibu, Calif., hosted by Pepperdine. The tournament will be held at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center, Oct. 16-21.
Bartosz Golas, the No. 15 seed, will play on Oct. 17 at 12:15 p.m., in the Round of 64. Golas, who received a Round of 128 bye, will face the winner of Leo Rosenberg of Hawaii and Cal Poly's Blake Wardman. Other Aztecs playing in the singles tournament include Luis Rattenhuber, Jordan Colman, Andre Feliz, Tim Schulz van Endert, Juan Gomez, and Matthew Tosches. Those singles matches will take place throughout the day on Oct. 16.
Representing SDSU in the doubles tournament are Golas- Gomez, Feliz-Rattenhuber, and Schulz van Endert-Tosches. The Golas-Gomez tandem head into the double competition as the No. 7 seed and will begin play on Oct. 16.
This will be the second ITA tournament this fall for both Golas and Gomez who played in the ITA All-American Championships the first week of October in Tulsa, Okla. Golas advanced to the third round of qualifying singles and Gomez experienced a heart-wrenching loss in the second round after making it out of the pre-qualifying singles.
For Schulz van Endert, this tournament will be his first since winning Bulldog Classic singles B draw back on Oct. 5.
The other teams participating in the tournament are Arizona, USC, UCLA, Pepperdine, UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara, Cal Poly, UC Riverside and Hawai'i.
This tournament is a qualifier for the ITA National Indoor Championships in Charlottesville, Virginia in November.
