DES MOINES, Iowa - The San Diego State track and field team completed competition at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Drake Stadium on Saturday by finishing in a tie for 31st place with eight team points. Junior Kristin Olafsdottir was the lone Aztec to compete on the final day and she finished in 20th place in the heptathlon with 5,276 total points.

Olafsdottir opened the day by taking part in the long jump and she ended with a leap of 18 feet, 1.00 inch, to finish in ninth place in Flight 1 and 22nd overall. Later in the javelin throw, Olafsdottir posted her top heave of the season in the heptathlon by logging a distance of 119-1. The junior's effort was fifth-best in Flight 2 and 13th-longest among the field of 24.

To close out the seven-event competition, Olafsdottir stepped onto the track and won the 800-meter run with a time of 2 minutes, 15.91 seconds. Olafsdottir's time was almost a second faster than the next fastest athlete, Kalindra McFadden of Oregon, who crossed the finish line in 2:16.68.

SDSU's overall team effort was its best showing since the 2005 season when it earned nine points to finish in 29th place.
