STARKVILLE, Miss. - Three Aztec softball players have recently been named NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes. Junior Monica Alnes, 2007 graduate Christina Hollingshead and sophomore Stefanie Quichocho-Rosario were all honored by NFCA after posting a 3.50 grade point average or higher for the 2006-07 academic year.

Alnes, a social work major, batted .299 last season and led the team with 25 RBI. Her four home runs were tied for the most on the squad and she was one of only three Aztecs to start every game she played.

Hollingshead, who graduated in May with a degree in communications, appeared in 20 games a season ago with 11 starts to her credit. She had eight hits and drove in five runs.

A chemistry major, Quichocho-Rosario appeared in 47 games and led the team with 15 stolen bases. She finished tied for fourth on the squad with 21 runs scored.

The Aztecs kick off their fall schedule this Friday at 2 p.m. when they play host to Cypress Community College at SDSU Softball Stadium. Admission to all fall exhibition games is free.
