SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State men's tennis team will compete in the ITA West Regional Championships beginning Wednesday at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center in Malibu, Calif. The event, the Aztecs' second fall tournament of 2007, will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday and run through Mon., Oct. 22.

The tournament, hosted by Pepperdine, will mark the first time this fall that the entire nine-member Aztec team is participating in an event. Last month, sophomores Achim Ceban and Matan Shitrit competed at the All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla.

SDSU will face some stiff early-season competition against nationally-ranked teams such as USC, UCLA, Pepperdine, Arizona, Arizona State, San Diego and Fresno State.

Fourteen teams will be competing in singles and doubles action with the winners advancing to the National Indoor Championships in Columbus, Ohio, Nov. 1-4.
