SAN DIEGO - San Diego State All-American triple jumper Decontee Kaye was honored at the San Diego Hall of Champions' Sports at Lunch event in Balboa Park on Wednesday, Aug. 29, after earning the Breitbard Star of the Month award for the month of June.

The junior from Hayward, Calif., received a plaque commemorating her achievement from former San Diego State basketball player and current Major League Baseball player and Arizona Diamondback Tony Clark. Kaye was also joined by current SDSU baseball player Stephen Strasburg who also was presented with a plaque.

Kaye was named Star of the Month after she earned All-America honors in the outdoor triple jump after she finished in fourth place at the NCAA Track and Field Championships in June. The 2007 Mountain West Conference champion in the event leaped a personal- and school-record 44 feet, 4.25 inches.

As an All-American, Kaye made it seven straight seasons in which an SDSU athlete has earned individual national accolades. She also became the first Aztec in school history to earn All-America honors in a jumping event.
