SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State men's tennis team opens its 2007-08 season on Saturday when three members compete in the prequalifying rounds of the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla.

Sophomores Achim Ceban, Juan Gomez and Matan Shitrit will all make their singles debuts at one of the fall season's major championships.

Ceban, who won 21 matches a year ago, will open with Tennessee's Jeremy Tweedt at 9 a.m. CT while Shitrit faces Indiana's Phillip Eilers at 10:30 a.m. and Gomez takes the courts at 2 p.m. against SMU's Dawid Kuczer.

The All-Americans will be Shitrit's first competition as an Aztec after transferring from UNC-Greensboro while Gomez is a returning letterwinner who recorded an 8-2 mark playing at No. 5 singles last season.

The three Aztecs will be looking to advance to Monday's qualifying rounds. Ceban and Gomez are set to compete on Tuesday as a doubles tandem in the qualifying rounds as well.
