SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State track and field finished in third place at the Mountain West Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships at SDSU Sports Deck. The Aztecs earned 128 points during the four-day meet and finished behind Brigham Young (195 points) and TCU (152).

Decontee Kaye helped San Diego State move up to third place after claiming the triple jump title late in the afternoon. The sophomore surpassed her school-record breaking performance from her last meet to establish a new standard of excellence at SDSU. Kaye completed a leap of 43 feet, 10.75 inches to post a new personal record and an NCAA regional qualifying effort. The Aztecs dominated the event as Karoline Koehler (4th, 41-3.75) and Shana Watson (5th, 40-5.50) joined Kaye in the top five with Koehler recording an NCAA regional qualifying distance.

In the 400-meter hurdles, Nicole Stone notched a personal best for the second consecutive day after crossing the finish line in an NCAA regional qualifying clocking of 59.21 seconds. Teammate Kristin Olafsdottir also posted a regional qualifying time of 1:00.58, while coming in sixth.

Mandy Upuu scored for SDSU in the 800 with an NCAA regional qualifying time of 2:08.89 (third place) and will be joined at the regional meet by Stone (53.79, season best) and Sherraine Pencil (54.07, season best) in the 400-meter dash.

The Aztec 4x400 relay team of Stone, Pencil, Upuu and Priscilla Chapu will also be making the trip to regionals after they finished second behind TCU with a time of 3:37.50, the fastest of any SDSU quartet this season.

San Diego State will return to the track May 25-26 when it travels north for the NCAA West Regionals in Eugene, Ore.
