AUSTIN, Texas - The San Diego State track and field squad competed in two events on day one of the 80th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays and registered three top-5 finishes at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas.
Mandy Upuu led the Aztecs in the 800-meter run with a second-place effort. The junior from Canada recorded a time of 2 minutes, 10.73 seconds, finishing behind champion Jessica Ortman of Albany (2:09.88). Senior teammate Lisa Naucler crossed the finish line seconds behing Upuu, clocking in with a time of 2:12.28.
In the final event for San Diego State, senior Celeste Tyson completed the 1,500-meter run in 4:39.03. The Austin, Texas, native finished the race in third place behind Angelo State's Trista McIntyre (4:33.14) and Asher Kyger of MidAmerica Nazarene (4:37.01).
The Aztecs will continue competition in the Lone Star State, Thursday, April 5, with the preliminary round of 400-meter hurdles at 4:30 p.m. CDT. Corri Campbell-Fell and Kristin Olafsdottir are set to compete in the lone event for San Diego State on Thursday.
