SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State men's tennis team competed in the final day at the USD Torero Challenge versus cross-town rival USD. Freshman Achim Ceban and junior Robert Sabo (Rancho Mirage, Calif.) won their second doubles match of the weekend while Sabo picked up his second singles victory of the three-day event.
Ceban and Sabo, who defeated Portland's Charlie Yemm and Joel Kincaid, 8-4 on Saturday, were the only Aztec duo to score a victory in doubles play. The twosome defeated Charl Wolmarans and Jonas Mouly, 8-2.
Sabo also picked up his second singles victory of four-team competition, defeating Mouly, 6-4, 0-6, 6-1. His other singles victory came on Saturday when he downed Joel Kincaid of Portland, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Seniors Markus Dickhardt (Marburg, Germany) and Christian Groh (Crailsheim, Germany) once again did not compete in today's events. The No. 21 ranked tandem in the preseason ITA doubles rankings are scheduled to compete at the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships hosted by The Ohio State University beginning later this week in Columbus.
