SAN DIEGO (AP) - Nick Coromelas' third field goal of the game, a 37-yarder with 1:50 left, lifted Cal Poly San Luis Obispo to a 16-14 victory over San Diego State on Saturday night.
Cal Poly (6-2), trailing, 14-13, recovered a fumble at the San Diego State 23-yard line with 3:02 left to play. Atiyyah Henderson, who had rushed for 140 yards on 26 carries for San Diego State, fumbled the ball and Cal Poly's Kenny Chicoine recovered.
Cal Poly quarterback Matt Brennan, who ran for 51 yards and passed for 80, all to Ramses Barden, kept the ball on three straight plays setting up Coromelas' line-drive field goal.
San Diego State (1-6) had a chance to win at the end, but Garrett Palmer's 48-yard field goal was wide left with 32 seconds to play.
The victory was the seventh time this season that a Division I-AA team has beaten a Division I team.
Cal Poly, which trailed, 14-3 after the first quarter, had pulled to within one point on Coromelas second field goal, a 25-yarder with 12:42 left in the fourth quarter.

But San Diego State quarterback Kevin Craft and receiver Ramal Porter teamed up on two TD passes, one of 25 yards and another of 34 yards as the Aztecs took a 14-3 lead after one quarter.
The Mustangs cut the lead to 14-10 just before the end of the first half when Brennan threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Barden. Barden went up and caught the ball between two Aztec defenders in the end zone with 32 seconds to go in the half.
James Noble ran for 100 yards on 25 carries for Cal Poly, while Barden caught three passes for 80 yards.
