MALIBU, Calif. - San Diego State senior Christian Groh (Crailsheim, Germany) lost his semifinals match in the singles main draw to eighth-seeded Andre Begemann of Pepperdine, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, at the Wilson/ITA West Regionals on Sunday. Begemann moves on to face second-seeded Chris Surapol of UCLA, who defeated SDSU's Markus Dickhardt (Marburg, Germany) in the quarterfinals on Saturday, in the final match.
In two tournaments this fall, Groh has now reached two main draw semifinals matches and one consolation singles semifinal. At the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships, Groh and Dickhardt reached the main draw doubles semifinals. In the same tournament, Groh reached the consolation singles semifinals.
The Aztecs men's tennis squad will be back in action next weekend for their final tournament of the fall when they take a short trip to USD to participate in the USD Challenge. Competition will begin on Friday, Oct. 27.
