SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State football team logged its second two-a-day practice this week and third overall of its 2006 fall camp on Thursday at the Aztecs' on-campus facility. The squad had a two-hour workout in half pads during the morning, before another two-hour practice this time in full pads in the late afternoon. Thursday was the team's 13th consecutive day of fall camp, while the team is now just two days away from its second fall scrimmage, Family Day, on Saturday afternoon.

Thursday's late afternoon session saw the team once again go through individual and special teams drills, as well as 7-on-7 and 11-on-11. The day ended with a pair of two-minute drills, highlighted by spectacular grabs by receivers Brett Swain, Brian Spinks and Chaz Schilens. Schilens' catch went for a touchdown to end the first two-minute drill, as quarterback Kevin O'Connell found him streaking down the middle of the field for the score.

San Diego State's annual Family Day is scheduled for this Saturday at Qualcomm Stadium. Family Day, including parking, is free to the public, although SDSU will be accepting donations of stuffed animals that will be presented to Children's Hospital. The stadium will open at 1 p.m. at Gate E, where fans will be greeted by Tailgate Town, which will feature the Aztec flea market and games. At the flea market, surplus apparel, including gear from the football and basketball squads, will be available for purchase. Season ticket holders can pick up their stadium blanket inside Tailgate Town as well.

The Family Day scrimmage is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. and will last approximately two hours. An autograph session with SDSU football players will start shortly after the conclusion of the scrimmage.

The story behind the music:
Beginning last spring, Chuck Long started playing music on the field during pre-practice stretching drills. He liked the energy it brought to the beginning of practice and will continue to utilize it during the fall. Coach Long has solicited lists from athletic department personnel, media and throughout the University and plans to select a different playlist every day.
