WALNUT, Calif. - Freshmen Nicole Stone and Leanne Taylor both claimed event titles on Friday to lead the San Diego State track and field squad on the second day of competition at the 48th Annual Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif. The Aztecs also received top-10 finishes from five other athletes on a rain-shortened afternoon at Hilmer Lodge Stadium on the campus of Mt. San Antonio College.

Stone captured first place in the university/open section of the 400 hurdles with a season-best time of 1:00.72, which qualified her for the NCAA regional meet. Two other hurdlers for SDSU also turned in season-best efforts in the event as freshman Corri Campbell-Fell took second with a 1:01.17 clocking, while sophomore Brittani Dudley finished in 10th with a time of 1:03.73.

Taylor, meanwhile, bettered her regional qualifying mark by over three feet in the university/open division of the discus with a winning distance of 159-9, which ranks fifth on the school's all-time list.

SDSU also received a season-best performance from senior Jamillah Titus, who placed second in the high jump with a clearance of 5-5.

Rounding out the highlights for the Aztecs on Friday was freshman Kristin Olafdottir's third-place finish in the Olympic development section of the 400 hurdles (1:03.73), while another freshman Shana Watson placed eighth in the long jump with a leap of 18-1.50.
