ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The San Diego State track and field team broke two school records on Saturday en route to a fourth-place finish at the 2006 Mountain West Conference Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, N.M. The Aztecs tallied 76 points, trailing Colorado State (156.5 pts.), Brigham Young (155.5 pts.) and TCU (98 pts) on the final day of competition at the ABQ Convention Center.

Among the highlights for the scarlet and black was a second-place finish in the 4x400 relay. The quartet of freshman Nicole Stone, sophomore Mandy Upuu, freshman Kristin Olafsdottir and sophomore Brittani Dudley established a new Aztec standard with a time of 3:43.63, eclipsing the old mark set in 1999 by just .03 seconds. Dudley also helped SDSU's cause with a pair of sixth-place finishes in the 200 (25.01) and 400 meters (55.86), while Stone (55.19) and Upuu (56.57) placed fifth and eighth in the 400, respectively.

Freshman Decontee Kaye, meanwhile, posted a runner-up finish in the triple jump with a leap of 41-10.50, marking the third straight meet in which she has recorded an NCAA provisional qualifying mark. Fellow classmate Shana Watson followed in fourth place with a personal-best effort of 39-8.

Senior Nicole Carmier also recorded a personal best on the day, finishing in the high jump tied for fourth with a height of 5-6, which now ranks third on the school's all-time list.

Other notable performances for the Aztecs on the day included an eighth-place finish in the mile run by junior Lisa Crampton, whose time of 5:04.40 broke Marie Nilsson's school record of 5:10.90 set in 2004. Sophomore Sherraine Pencil (24.51) and freshman Shana Solomon (25.31) also notched points in the 200, placing fourth and eighth, respectively.

SDSU opens its outdoor campaign on March 11, traveling across town to compete in the San Diego City Championships on the campus of UC San Diego.
