OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Junior Kimberlee Frith broke her own school record in the 200 freestyle to lead the San Diego State swimming and diving team at the Mountain West Conference Championships in Oklahoma City, Okla., on Friday. The Aztecs are in ninth place after three days with 127 points, seven behind of eighth-place Air Force (134), with the final day of competition scheduled for Saturday.

Frith, an Orange Coast College transfer, finished third in the 200 free with a time of 1 minute, 51.46 seconds, to break her previous record of 1:51.48 set earlier this season (Dec. 18, 2005).

In other individual action, senior Samantha Peters (58.50) and sophomore Katie Smith (58.68) finished 11th and 15th, respectively, in the 100 backstroke, and senior Emily Schmied raced to a 12th-place showing in the 400 individual medley, clocking a 4:34.24.

The 400 medley relay team of Smith, sophomore Lindsay Hnyda, junior Stella Karoly and Frith placed ninth with a time of 3:56.95.

SDSU will begin its final day of competition at the MWC championship meet on Saturday, beginning with the 200 back at 10 a.m.
