SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State swimming and diving team dropped a 136-107 decision to Wyoming at the Ray and Kroc Community Center on Saturday afternoon. Kimberlee Frith won two events to lead the Aztecs (3-8, 1-7 Mountain West Conference).
Frith, the school-record holder in the 200 freestyle, won the event with a time of 1 minute, 53.68 seconds. She later took first in the 100 free (53.27), and anchored the 400 free relay to a first-place finish and season-best time of 3:37.87.
Senior Samantha Peters raced to a first-place showing in the 50 free (24.98) and was runner-up to Frith in the 100 free (54.49), while sophomore Katie Smith won the 100 backstroke in 1:00.46.
Senior Emily Schmied had a pair of second places in the 200 free (1:54.68) and 100 fly (1:00.05), and joined Frith, and juniors Stella Karoly and Rachel Rife on the victorious 400 free relay.
Freshman Megan Flanagan was the top diver for SDSU with fourth-place showings in the 1-meter (221.46 points) and the 3-meter (229.05) events.
The Aztecs will travel to San Luis Obispo at noon Friday (Jan. 27) for a tri-meet with Pepperdine and host Cal Poly.
