TEAM NOTES

* - The Aztecs 16-point win is the largest over UNLV since Feb. 26, 2001, when they defeated the Rebels by 17 points (83-66) in San Diego. The 16-point margin is also the largest against a Mountain West opponent since Feb. 24, 2003, when SDSU downed New Mexico, 89-73, also in San Diego.

* - San Diego State has now won six of its last eight games, its best record in eight consecutive games since the 2002-03 season, when SDSU was 6-2 from Dec. 28, 2002 to Jan. 20, 2003. That squad went on to post a 16-14 record and advance to the second round of the NIT.

* - Seven Aztecs scored at least eight points tonight.

* - San Diego State outshot the Rebels from the free-throw line tonight. The Aztecs improve to 9-2 on the season when outshooting the opponent from the charity stripe and have now won five straight when doing so.

* - The Aztecs held the rebound advantage for the game and have outrebounded or tied their opponent in 12 of the last 13 games.

* - With tonight's win, the Aztecs improve to 7-1 when freshman Kyle Spain scores in double-figures.

* - SDSU posted 17 second-chance points to UNLV's seven.

PLAYER NOTES

* - Forward Marcus Slaughter recorded his first double-double (20 points, 20 rebounds) since returning from a knee injury he suffered earlier this season. His double-double is his 18th of his career and he is now tied for fourth place with Joe McNaull.

* - Slaughter's 20 rebounds are the most by an Aztec since Michael Cage grabbed 21 rebounds on Feb. 6, 1984... Slaughter is just the sixth player in SDSU's 85-year basketball history to grab 20 or more rebounds. He joins Cage, Steve Malovic, Chris McMurray, Larry Jones and Al Skalecky as the only players to record at least 20 boards in a single game.

* - Slaughter's 20 rebounds breaks the school's Mountain West Conference record for rebounds in game held previously by Aerick Sanders who grabbed 16 on two different occasions...He also broke the Cox Arena record for most rebounds in a single game, breaking his own mark set earlier this season against Washington State. Former Wyoming center Uche Nsonwu-Amadi had 17 in 2001-02...The 20 rebounds are the 11th-most by an SDSU player in a single game.

* - Tonight is Slaughter's seventh double-digit rebound game of the season... Speaking of McNaull, Slaughter surpassed him for eighth place in the Division I era on the SDSU career rebounding chart.

* - Slaughter has made 10 or more free throws in two consecutive games. The last Aztec to accomplish that feat was Brandon Heath last season when he made 17 vs. UNLV and 10 at Colorado State on Feb. 12 and 19, 2005, respectively.

* - Guard John Sharper has hit multiple three-point shots in 13 of his last 14 games.

* - Guard Brandon Heath scored in double-figures for the 62nd time in his Aztec career.
