SAN DIEGO - San Diego State Head Coach Steve Fisher
On containing Point Loma Nazarene's perimeter shooting:
"They shot like gangbusters. They made their first seven-of-eight three-point baskets, so we told them to make them dribble and don't allow them to have any catch and shoot opportunities."
On the team's performance:
"We played hard. We had a lot of looks that didn't go in, but for the most part we competed hard.
"The best thing we did was shoot free-throws. We have to get to the line more. We had some good moments when we were up by 10 or 12. It appeared we would go up by 20. Whether it was us or them, we didn't (go up by 20)."
Brandon Heath
On the game:
"We will take the win coming off that loss (to USD). We have to go up to Cal and pay them back for what they did to us a year ago."
Kyle Spain
On the game:
"If we were to lose this game our chance to bounce back would have been a lot harder. We probably wouldn't have been able to play as hard against Cal (this Tuesday.)"
Marcus Slaughter
On Point Loma's early lead:
"We never thought we were in trouble. We just had to defend the three-point shot better. Coach (Fisher) just called timeout and told us to make them drive to the basket.
On Kyle Spain:
"He is going to be a great player. He's been working hard at everything and he knows how to rebound. He reminds me of myself when I was a freshman."
